In October we start harvesting the first roses from our fields. The roses are lifted up using a clamp, where they are checked for quality and tied on the binding machine. They are then transferred to a large cart, where they go to our coldstore for distribution.
We start our work in the field in March when the grafted roses are cut back. With this we cut off the growth of the rootstock just above the bud / graft.
This will further grow the rose through the bud / graft and create the first branches of the new rose.
You can see clearly in the photos here, together with a photo of the field as it looked in April after all the roses had been cut back.
In March I planted a new standard rose from our cold storage in the garden.
The later in the spring you plant the rose, the shorter you should cut the branches to stimulate regrowth.
See the attached some photos of the progression of the growth of this standard rose.
Here you see our produced cuttings, which were planted in the field in April.
